Start your engines, it’s that time of the year a crowd of car enthusiasts flock to Surfers Paradise for the annual Gold Coast 600 Supercars race.
Held in Surfers Paradise each year in October, the event sees festival like entertainment and roaring engines come together to watch world renowned drivers battle it out on one of Australia’s most city based street circuits.
Over the three-day weekend, the drivers participate in practice sessions, qualifying sessions and two 300 kilometre races, all while spectators watch the action from the local high-rises, beaches, streets and restaurants.
The circuit consists of a 2.98kilometres track, including a stretch of the Gold Coast Highway and the famous Gold Coast beachfront with chicanes and sharp bends nestled throughout the course.
Drivers and Co-Drivers work together to complete 102 laps for each major race totalling 300 kilometres.
And it’s not just a day at the races with headlining concerts in the Broadwater Parklands featuring Delta Goodrem and Daryl Braithwaite on Friday, 27 October as well as a notable line-up on the Saturday evening including ARIA award winning Hilltop Hoods, Violent Soho, Montaigne and Dean Lewis. If it’s still the motor madness you’re most interested in seeing, the Showtime FMX freestyle moto X team perform aerial antics throughout the weekend as well modified cars, utes and of course, the not to be missed Supercars Driver Parade where you can salute your favourite team prior to the final race.
